巴黎檢察官辦公室證實，針對上周日（19日）羅浮宮博物館（The Louvre Museum）王冠珠寶竊案，調查人員已在上周六（25日）晚間逮捕數名嫌犯，其中一人正準備在戴高樂機場搭機離境。
法國媒體《BFM TV》及《巴黎人報》（Le Parisian）報導，消息人士透露遭逮捕人數為2人，2嫌均有竊盜前科，專案警方已接手調查，可延長偵訊最長96小時。

綜合美聯社與《英國廣播公司》（BBC）報導，竊案發生於上周日開館後不久的上午9時30分，4名竊賊駕駛搭載機械升降籃的車輛，沿塞納河畔陽台攀登至羅浮宮阿波隆畫廊（Galerie d'Apollon）。他們以電動工具切割一樓窗戶，2人入內後威脅警衛撤離，並砸破2座陳列櫃，竊走價值8800萬歐元（約台幣31億元）的珍貴王冠珠寶。整個過程僅耗時不到8分鐘，竊賊於9時38分騎乘2輛待命機車逃逸。
初步調查顯示，遭竊區域三分之一展間無監視器。法國司法部長承認安檢措施「徹底失效」，為國家帶來「惡劣的形象」。羅浮宮館長稱此為「可怕失敗」，目前全國文化機構已加強維安。

檢察官貝科（Laure Beccuau）發表聲明，證實警方專案調查人員實施了逮捕，但對資訊過早外洩表示遺憾，表示這可能會妨礙數百名調查人員「動員追回被盜珠寶並抓獲所有共犯」的工作，呼籲大眾配合，持續追查失竊寶物下落。
