地處太平洋火環帶（Pacific Ring of Fire）的菲律賓坎拉翁火山0（Mount Kanlaon），當地時間周二（8日）清晨劇烈噴發，形成高達4公里的巨型火山灰柱，並向西南方向飄散。
新加坡《海峽時報》（The Strait Times）報導，菲律賓火山地震研究所（Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology）周二（8日）發表聲明，指位於菲律賓內格羅斯島（Negros）中部的坎拉翁火山，當地時間周二清晨5時51分發生劇烈噴發，「這座火山正在產生一股巨大的彎曲柱狀火山灰，高達4000公尺，正向西南方向漂移」。隨後通報，火山爆發已於上午6時47分停止。

當地火山警戒級別目前仍維持「5級」中的第3級，代表火山存在岩漿活動迹象，岩漿正向地表移動，存在爆發性噴發、熔岩流及火山碎屑流等災害風險。
西內格羅斯省拉卡斯特拉納市（La Castellana）救援官員德阿西斯（John De Asis）表示：「我們已經做好了應對火山爆發的準備。比照去年（2024年）12月火山爆發，方圓4至6公里內的家庭已經撤離，目前我們正在監測哪些村莊將受到火山灰的影響」，並已建議當局「取消該市的課程和工作」。

當地22歲居民妮蔻（Channel Nicor）表示，火山爆發時她正在等車去學校，「那聲音就像是一塊大石頭從高處掉下來一樣，然後我抬頭看到火山灰雲越來越大。當我看到火山灰時，我當然感到緊張，但不像上次火山噴發那麼緊張，因為這次我們知道該怎麼做」。
坎拉翁火山是東南亞地區24座活火山之一，上次噴發發生在去年12月，迫使周邊村莊數萬居民撤離。周二爆發時，內格羅斯島火山周圍地區仍處於疏散命令之下。
