NEW: Russia launched a massive missile and drone attack across Ukraine overnight on Putin's 74th birthday, hitting Kyiv, Pryluky, Kremenchuk, and other cities. A five-story apartment block in Pryluky partially collapsed with people inside. At least seven killed so far across multiple cities, with rescuers still digging through rubble. Zelensky had warned the night before that intelligence pointed to a large incoming strike.

Today, as a birthday “gift” to Putin, the Russian army destroyed a residential building in Pryluky, in the Chernihiv region. It was an ordinary five-story apartment building. Tragically, as of now, five people have been reported killed and 26 injured, including five children. There may still be people under the rubble. First responders are working nonstop at the site – doing everything possible to find every person. Russian missile strikes also damaged five apartment buildings in Dnipro and four high-rise buildings in Kremenchuk. Tragically, two people were killed and eight injured. A high-rise building in Zaporizhzhia was damaged by a drone. In Kyiv, the Russians killed two people. Two more people were killed in Oleksandriya… My condolences to all the families and loved ones of those killed. Overall, infrastructure in Kyiv and 12 regions came under attack last night. One of the key targets was our energy infrastructure. The Russians wanted to strike painfully and demonstratively. This was one of the most vile strikes: 70 missiles in total, many of them ballistic, as well as “shaheds.” Unfortunately, only some of them were shot down. Russian ballistic missiles remain the greatest challenge. And air defense packages for us right now are a vital necessity. That is why every day we are looking for missiles for Patriot systems that can and must actually protect people’s lives here, in Ukrainian skies. Thank you to everyone who is helping us.

Russia launched a cynical attack against Ukraine on October 7, firing around 70 missiles – many of them ballistic – along with Shahed drones. The attacks hit Kyiv and 12 regions, killing at least 19 people and injuring dozens. In Pryluky, Chernihiv region, a Russian strike destroyed a five-storey residential building, killing 13 people, including three children. At least 43 people were injured, including children. Nine apartment buildings were damaged in Dnipro and Kremenchuk. Two people were killed and 27 more injured. Two more people were killed in Kyiv and two in Oleksandriia. Russian ballistic missiles remain one of the biggest threats. Ukraine urgently needs more air defence, including Patriot missiles, to protect lives.

烏克蘭國會人權專員盧比內茨（Dmytro Lubinets）在加密社群表示：「烏克蘭整夜再次遭到俄羅斯飛彈打擊」，「又是一個不眠之夜，又一次恐怖行為，之後人們仍得不顧一切，照常安排自己的工作日」。近幾周基輔持續遭到密集轟炸，俄軍空襲能源設施、鐵路與公路運輸，包括連接第聶伯河（Dnipro River）兩岸的橋樑。防空警報幾乎不停響起，敦促居民躲進地下室、避難所與地鐵站。
Overall, 25 people were killed in this massive Russian strike on Ukraine. One hundred people were injured. It was a combined attack, involving many ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as “shaheds.” This is the kind of “gift” Putin gave himself for his birthday. Ukrainian warriors shot down 44 missiles – both cruise and ballistic. Not all of those launched by Russia, and ballistic missiles are especially difficult to deal with. We suppressed 117 “shaheds” – most of those launched, but unfortunately, not all of them either. Additional packages of air defense missiles are needed, as are additional measures to support Ukraine. And there will be appropriate packages. The threat is there every day, and every day, our air defense batteries need to have missiles ready. We strongly count on prompt deliveries from our partners.

澤倫斯基指出，烏克蘭部隊在過去24小時打擊4處俄羅斯目標，包括彼爾姆（Perm）、薩馬拉（Samara）與阿斯特拉罕（Astrakhan）地區的兩處石油設施與一處訓練場，並在黑海（Black Sea）實施回應。他稱這些攻擊是對莫斯科襲擊的「正當」回應，並說被擊中的設施有助於「俄羅斯資助並進行其殘酷戰爭」。
戰事升溫並向外擴張之際，土耳其總統艾爾段（Recep Tayyip Erdogan）敦促普丁確保黑海航行安全。土耳其總統府聲明指出，艾爾段重申願協助促成俄烏直接談判，並表示黑海安全通行對安卡拉至關重要。兩國領導人通話前，周二（6日）清晨有無人機擊中2艘商船，黑海航運遇襲事件隨著俄烏戰事加劇而增加。其中一艘起火，另一艘沉沒。保加利亞當局表示，已在該國外海確認沉船上沒有生還者後，結束搜救行動。
